Within the framework of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) funded project “LevelUP – Advancing Jordanian Industries”, implemented by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Jordan in conjunction with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply of Jordan (MITS), a Training on Market and Product Space Analysis was held from 3rd to 6th October at the Dead Sea, Jordan. The training was attended by 14 analysts and researchers from MITS, Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Jordan Exports and Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation.
The event was the second of a series of trainings aimed at strengthening analytical capacities in Jordan. A key objective of the series is to develop the capacities of a task force team composed of the officials mentioned above and constituted to produce the first Jordan Industrial Competitiveness Report (JICR) and other relevant analyses for evidence-based policy-making.
This second training course mainly examined sector competitiveness with a trade diversification and sophistication lens, focusing specifically on product and market performance, revealed comparative advantage, growth compared with competitors, market threats and dynamism, as well as economic and product complexity related tools. The conduct of the training was led by the Industrial Competitiveness Specialist Mehdi Mehamha assisted by the Industrial Analyst Thamer Shoshan.
